A Roll with hundreds of tiny needles, is rolling over skin, triggers body’s self-healing mechanism –producing tiny puncture wounds in the skin, which stimulate the body to produce new collagen and elastin tissue. These are two key ingredients of healthy skin to help your body naturally rebuild skin’s surface and consequently reduce imperfections on the skin such as wrinkles, scars or pigmentation.

an electric skin needling device similar to the Dermaroller uses many tiny micro punctures to create trauma to the skin to stimulate a healing response. The difference is that Derma Pen is penetrating the skin like tattooing machine. The tip of the pen is small, allowing it to pass closer to the orbit area, nose and around the lips. Also more comfortable to use treating individual scars marks.

How does Dermaroller work?

Skin needling involves rolling over the skin with a Dermaroller, which produces hundreds of tiny dermal injuries. This is because of the micro-needles on the roller, which create micro channels in the epidermis. These minute injuries produce a normal healing response which begins the moment the tissue is injured. As a result, new collagen starts to be produced and resurfaces the skin. This process can continue for up to 12 months after the initial injury, meaning that your skin will be remodelling and improving itself continuously for that 12 month period.

There will be no outward signs of damage; however one tiny needle causes one tiny wound in the skin. As there has been no real damage to the existing collagen, all the collagen that is being newly produced will simply add to and strengthen the skin that is already there.
On a typical roller there are 200 needles – so by rolling it six times, over 1000 tiny wounds will be made, all of which will stimulate new collagen fibres. Over time this process will increase the thickness, suppleness and general condition of the skin in these areas.

In addition to stimulating collagen growth, the micro-needling also creates channels through which revitalising products can be applied to the skin and nourish it at much deeper level. We apply a cocktailpure sterile ingredients such as: Vitamins, Amino Acids, Peptides and Hyaluronic Acid.

Is the Dermaroller treatment safe?

Yes. Dermaroller is completely safe and presents a much less stressful alternative to surgery. Each client has their own individual Dermaroller to ensure that needles are not reused which removes any risk of disease transmission.

Does the treatment hurt?

As the treatment causes thousands of tiny injuries, there will be some discomfort. However we apply a topical anaesthetic 15-20 minutes before the treatment to reduce the pain. Compared to the aggressive anti-aging alternatives the pain felt is minimal.

How many treatments will I need?

We recommend a minimum of 3 treatments for anti-aging and 6 for scars.

How often should I have the treatments?

Treatments should be carried out once every 6 weeks.

Are there any side effects?

Normally your skin will be red immediately after needling. This will fade over the course of a few hours – although if you are using medical grade needles 1.0 -2.0mm, this redness may continue to the next day. If you look closely at your skin you might be able to see the small puncture wounds from the needles, however there will be no obvious injury.
